Savanna Private Game Reserve is located in the west of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which lies in the southern section of the Greater Kruger National Park conservation area. This game-rich area is home to the Big Five - Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Cheetah - as well as over 450 bird species.
There are scheduled daily return flights from Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport to an airstrip in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. These flights are approximately 1 hour long, followed by a 40 minute game drive to the lodge.
Guests can also take daily scheduled flights to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) in Nelspruit from Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town. It is a 75-minute drive from the airport to this safari lodge in the greater Kruger. Transfers can be arranged in air-conditioned, luxury vehicles with complimentary snacks and drinks. Guests can also fly across to Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve from KMIA in 30 minutes.
There are cash only entrance fees applicable for Sabi Sand Game Reserve (per vehicle and per guest). Keep the slip and get it stamped at the lodge, as you will need to produce it at the gate on your departure.
Johannesburg - approximately 5.5 hours drive (480 km) Nelspruit - approximately 1.5 hours (130 km)
Take the N12 or N4 highway to Nelspruit. When you enter Nelspruit, turn left at the 3rd traffic light (Crossings Shopping centre should be on your left) and follow the signboards towards White River.
From White River, take the R40 to Hazyview.
From Hazyview, turn right (if coming from White River) onto the R536. Sign boards to Kruger National Park and Kruger Gate.
After approximately 34km / 21 miles, turn left onto a dirt road at the Sabi Sand - Newington Gate sign.
Travel for about 10km / 6 miles until you reach a large intersection, where you will see the Sabi Sand – Newington Gate sign.
Turn right here and follow this road for 1.8km / about a mile.
At the T-junction, turn left at the Sabi Sand – Newington Gate sign and after about 600m, turn left at the Sabi Sand – Newington Gate sign.
Follow this road for about 1km / less than a mile until you arrive at Newington Gate, where you need to pay a cash entrance fee per vehicle and guest.
Once you have passed through the gate, turn left and follow the signposts to Savanna Game Lodge, which is approximately 1km / less than a mile after the gate.
