Umkumbe Bush Lodge offers 10 spacious Meru-style tented suites, each named after an indigenous tree of the Sabi Sand, set on raised wooden decks beneath a leafy canopy and finished with crisp linen and a touch of safari glamour.
The suites at Umkumbe Bush Lodge are divided into Standard, Luxury, and Superior categories, allowing couples and families to choose the level of comfort that suits them best. Every tent is air-conditioned and fitted with a standing fan, tea and coffee station, hairdryer, en-suite bathroom and Wi-Fi.
Standard suites are furnished with a king-size bed that can be converted into 2 single beds, making them ideal for friends travelling together or for children sharing with a parent. Each suite has its own ensuite bathroom with a shower, along with a private veranda where you can start the day with a cup of coffee while watching the bush wake up.
For a little extra indulgence, the Luxury and Superior suites add a king-size bed alongside 2 single beds or a sleeper couch, comfortably accommodating up to three children in addition to the main bed. These suites also feature an open-air outdoor shower, a bathtub, and his and hers basins, along with their own exclusive view over the drainage line below. Privacy is a priority here, and each suite feels like its own private corner of the bush.
The Honeymoon Suite at Umkumbe Bush Lodge is a haven for romance. It has a secluded plunge pool, outdoor shower, and a spacious deck offering scenic views. Indoor facilities include a dressing area, bedroom (with a plush king-size bed) and a free-standing bath tub as the centrepiece of the room.

Beyond the suites, Umkumbe's communal spaces are built around that same weeping boer bean tree that has become something of a landmark. Called “The Tree House” - this is where you will find a relaxed bar and coffee station, an open-air dining area for breakfast, lunch, and candlelit dinners, a cosy loft-style lounge, and a sparkling swimming pool with sun loungers for lazy afternoons between game drives.
The reed-fenced Boma offers a chance to dine under the stars around a large firepit and experience a taste of local culture.
