There are no fences between the Sabi Sands Game Reserve in South Africa and the Kruger National Park, which allows the free movement of Big Five game and many other species.The Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve is adjacent to the renowned Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Guests can access the lodge either by road from Johannesburg or by air. A number of airlines fly into local airports around Sabi Sands Game Reserve in South Africa. Transfers from these airports to Lion Sands Ivory Lodge can be arranged on request.
There are daily charter flights available directly from Johannesburg to Skukuza Airport. The flight takes about 75 minutes. For guests arriving at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit, a short charter flight can also be arranged for a 25 minute air transfer directly to Skukuza Airport. The baggage allowance is 20kg (excess baggage can be stored with the charter company).
Scheduled airlines operate flights to Nelspruit (KMIA) from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. There is also a scheduled flight from Johannesburg to Mala Mala Airfield which takes about an hour.
Guests arriving by charter flight at Skukuza Airport will be met and transferred in an open Land Rover which takes about 25 minutes. Guests arriving at Mala Mala Airstrip will also be transferred by open Land Rover which takes 45 minutes. Guests requiring transport from KMIA will be met and transferred in an air-conditioned vehicle to the lodge which takes about 2 hours. Self-drive guests can travel from Johannesburg to the lodge on National Roads which takes about 6 hours
