Take a refreshing dip in the beautiful pool surrounded by amazing views of the African bush and enjoy a cold gin and tonic on the shaded deck while the sun peeps through the trees leaves above.

After a refreshing rest, venture out on your first afternoon 4x4 game drive. Nothing beats the thrill of your first animal sightings. With your experienced guides on hand to lead you through the wilderness, keep your eyes and ears peeled and your camera close at hand. Enjoy a traditional fireside dinner under the beautiful African night sky. Marvel at the natural beauty and calm of the bush as you become one with nature.

Day 2: Safari Lodge in Sabi Sands

Today you have the option of starting out with a guided bush walk on request, or an early morning game drive. After a delicious breakfast, venture out for a bush walk in the Kruger National Park. Take the opportunity to touch the plants, feel the rich earth beneath your feet and discover some unique insects. Escape the midday heat around the beautiful poolside or book a luxurious spa treatment. Indulge in one of the many treatments and massages to ease those sore muscles and regain your inner balance.

Your night game drive begins in the late afternoon, as you venture out into the wilderness for sundowners. See the pack of wild dog hunt through the dark plains, their eyes ablaze through the grass or the flash of leopard spots dash across the trail. Besides Africa’s Big 5, this region of the Kruger National Park is home to a variety of animals such as warthog, kudu, giraffe, zebra, meerkat and various birds (360 species to be exact). This is also a bird-lovers paradise!

Day 3: Sunrise, sunset and Sabi Sands

Your morning begins at the break of dawn, as you venture out for your last early morning game drive in the Kruger National Park. Witness the basking crocodile along the water and playful baboons scamper across the road. The beautiful stark lighting makes for amazing photo opportunities. Your next stop takes you to the exclusive Sabi Sands, where you will spend the next 2 nights in. Plenty of cranes, kingfishers, warthogs and smaller bushbuck can be seen outside your room!

The Sabi Sands has some of the best leopard sightings in Southern Africa, with several streams and rivers running through the reserve. Sunset in the Sabi Sands takes you to a new landscape to enjoy sundowners while you watch shadows of the wild dance across the plains. On return, you are led by flickering lanterns to your open-air boma dinner around the blazing fire. Game meats are featured on the menu if you are eager to give it a try

Day 4: Off-road game viewing

The best part about game viewing in the Sabi Sands is that guides in this region are allowed to take your game drives off-road. This means you can get right into the thick of their habitat while still continuing to enjoy them in a comfortable proximity. Set out on a Sabi Sands Safari bush walk. You are sure to come across many herbivorous game along the trail. Discover the enormity of Africa’s elephants as you stand ground level with its majesty from a safe distance.

Enjoy a relaxing swim in the pool, while watching birds flit through the indigenous trees around you. Take a walk along the swing bridge to the hide and savour the beauty of the roaming wildlife at the river’s edge.

This is exactly how a South African safari experience should feel - unrushed and at your own pace. Marvel at the ferocity of a predator on the hunt or a pack of lions honing in on a fresh kill on your night game drive. Watch the territorial rhino stand its ground against hyenas, while the sounds of the bush and your heartbeat take you through the night.

Day 5: Enjoy your last Sabi moments

Savour the last remnants of your Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands safari on a morning game drive with a short breakfast out in the wild. Marvel at the breaking colours of dawn, as birds, soar across the sky and hippos wade through the cool waters. This will be your final chance to spot a leopard, so keep that camera handy.

Take a leisurely stroll to the river hide to take some final shots of the thirsty wildebeest and buffalo by the water’s edge. Visit the curio shop and browse amongst the unique handcrafted goods. Your road transfer takes you back to the Kruger National Park, where you catch your transfer flight back to Johannesburg. Need a break from the bush?
