Mala Mala is fully accessible by air and road and there are a number of transport options to choose from. Mala Mala Private Game Reserve falls within the Sabi Sands Game Reserve which is adjacent to the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.
By Air
There are scheduled flights on commercial airlines from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban to Nelspruit (KMIA - Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport).
Private charters can be arranged to transfer guests from KMIA to Mala Mala. This service requires a minimum of 2 people and takes about 30 minutes one way.
The Mala Mala Game Reserve private airstrip boasts an all weather surface and is equipped with aeronautical communication facilities. Private charters can be arranged from just about any airport. This service is ideal for guests who cannot fit in with scheduled flight times of standard carriers. The cost is dependent on the number of guests, type of aircraft requested and flying distance.
By Road
Road transfers from the airport to Mala Mala can be arranged for guests arriving at KMIA. Panoramic Transfer With a qualified guide in a luxury air-conditioned microbus this trip travels through some of the most spectacular scenery South Africa has to offer. To fully appreciate and to take in the natural beauty of the Panorama Tour a full day is needed, however, for those with limited time a half day option is available.
Directions
From Johannesburg or Pretoria
- Take the N12 / N4 towards Nelspruit
- From Nelspruit, take the R40 to Hazyview
- When you arrive in Hazyview, take the R536 towards the Paul Kruger Gate
- Continue for 37.5km (23.3 miles)
- At the Mala Mala Game Reserve sign turn left onto a gravel road and follow the road signs to the camp for 29km (18 miles). There is a vehicle entrance fee into the Sabi Sand Game Reserve payable on arrival.
